If the saying “Memories Are Forever”, then why are they so hard to remember?
Nowadays, we spend so much time focusing on our future that there is little time to reminisce on our past. The idea of revisiting a memory is sometimes too painful, too strange, and even considered a waste of time. Sadly, we don’t spend enough quiet time reflecting on our past to help determine our direction for our future, our purpose, the meaning of life, or simply making our next decision.
It doesn’t help that the hustle and bustle of life have made humans not natural cultivators of past history. We shove even the most nostalgic things that have happened to us to the back corners of our minds - to a place we’ll likely never visit again.
However, somehow, sometimes, they miraculously come back. While commuting to work, an image on the subway advertisement reminds you of your holiday honeymoon at a beach resort. Or, while in a shower, the water drops from the shower head help you remember cycling in the rain with your friends when you were a child. Yet, instead of indulging in these memories, we allow the values of our fast-paced cities to tell us to forget them because we are encouraged to “do something” because daydreaming, which can be a form of reminiscing is appeared to be just sitting there doing nothing and inefficient use of time.
Consequently, to “do something” productive, we then use filtered photographs of our memories and post them on social media to only remember the glamorous aspects of our lives and neglect every other memory. To be frank, we don’t need our electronic devices to capture every moment when we already have the strongest device in our heads- our brain. So instead of regularly posting our memory online, we just need to regularly travel in our minds and think of memorable moments of our lives.
Our memories have not disappeared. We can remain in touch with them daily with one simple tool: “Reminisce”, which is defined by us as, a therapeutic necessity in the form of indulging in recollection of past memories.
Get inspired & listen to our instrumental track “Reminisce” as travel into your mind to remember your past memories.
